Engineering Gold Guide

WOLK has made engineering a little less profitable but there are still ways to make gold through the profession.

Scopes

As before scopes are an easy to craft item where you can purchase the mats off the AH, craft and sell. It’s harder to make as much gold as BC (where the best scope recipe was a random drop). It will take a little research to look up the mats and find the cost and look up the sell price but once you find your nitch or learn the average price of the mats off the top of your head it will be easier

Sun Scope

Crafting Engineering Mats

Another way to make gold to is to craft the items that are needed to make other engineering items. For instance Craft a Froststeel Tube (8 cobalt ore/bars, 1 Crystallized water). I have been able to sell these for about 5-10g more to people who are just looking for the tube to craft something and don’t want to spend the time looking up the mats for it. The same can be done with the handful of bolts and other tubes and frames.

Mechano-Hog

Crafting the Mechano-Hog is another way to make some gold via tips. The vendor mats cost roughly 12kg and I have seen engineers craft it for people for 13-14k + their mats that are not from the vendors (making 1-2k tip profit). Since there isn’t as much of a bonus of having this profession, more people are starting to drop it to pick up a profession with a better raid/gear buff. The result is less people available to craft this mount and the possibility to charge a decent amount to craft it.

Gas Clouds

Gas Clouds allow engineers to gather motes sometimes a lot easier than traditional farming. This makes the profession a good farming one. Although there is no as much of a bonus for raid stats with this profession, I still recommend it for an alt that you use for farming.
