Savory Deviate Delights and Leveling Fishing

January 28th, 2009 by admin

Fishing has now become more profitable than ever. With the introduction of the fish feast, there is a high demand for the fish in the recipe. But like most characters, my fishing level was very low. I never cared much for the profession because it was never as profitable as other things I could spend my time on.

One way to level up, is to fish constantly in a major city pool (not in Dalaran). You avoid get-aways and you can level faster with out wasted casts. But this method just obtains fish that are pretty much vendor trash.

Another way is to go around to a zone that fits your level (without get-aways) and fish there. These can get you a wide variety of fish, which can sell at a decent price. However, this is very time consuming and spend a lot of planning on which zone to go next.

The method I choose to use, is fishing by Wailing Caverns. You can fish up Deviate Fish there. When cooked as Savory Deviate Delight, these fish sell for on average (across servers) 1.5g each. Not a bad chunk of change for leveling fishing. The reason why I chose this method (instead of flying around to zones) is they hold their value and sell rather quickly. Also It is nice to go to one place. Set up a TV show or something to watch, and fish for a little while without planning your next zone. Another reason why I choose this method is that the mobs are very low level, so it makes it a good farming spot for almost any level.

    i’ve been leveling up fishing this way! if there were no competitors at AH, i could sell them for 3 or 4g each. sometimes i wonder why people would spent that money just to for fun. lol! but that’s fine. i love their gold :)

    I have done this on my Serve, Kel’thuzad, and sell stacks of uncooked deviate fish for up to 60 gold a stack! Great tip

    i cook them and can only sell them for 1.5-2g each and someone can sell the uncooked for 3g each?!?!?!?!

    @Weirdo

    That is probably because people want the uncooked fish to level their skills.

    uncooked can be used in alchemy as well, and the pots made from it are used in tailoring, and I believe possibly lower skill leather working (would have to check) which explains why they can charge more for it, since someone other than a cook can use the mats for a recipe.
