Today I wanted to cover ink trading. This is an easy simple way to make money with Inscription. It doesn’t take knowing the glyphs or even having the profession.

Ink of the sea (which can be purchased for around 2g each on my server) can be crafted or purchased to trade in for any other common ink. I routinely list about 10-20 of each ink (single stacks) and I sell many of them in a 2 day auction period. They sell price on the AH can range from 3g to 10g each. Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend trading in for 3g ones with such a low margin if you have to purchase the Ink of the sea.. But if you can craft the ink yourself, you can make an ink of the sea for around 1g each.

I will normally sell 1 of each ink here and there. Sometimes I do sell 30+ of an ink at a time when the herb market is low and the leveling Inscriptionist is impatient on waiting for more herbs to be available.

Tips on how to make gold at the Darkmoon Faire

You can make a lot of gold from the faire vendors even after they have been nerfed the respawn rates. I make around 10k profit from previous fairs (spend around 1500g) and with the price of herbs up more than ever and the introduction of Northrend items for sale at the vendors, I plan to make more the next fair. I purchase everything from Fel Lotus for 3g each, motes for 16 s each, and scrolls for a couple silver.

The vendors Professor Thaddeus Paleo and Lhara have random spawn limited quantity items for sale during the fair. It is easiest to “farm” the faire when it is in your factions’ town since opposing factions cannot visit as easily. Shat also will be easier now since Shat isn’t the hot spot for high levels to hang out.

I park a level 1 alt at the fair in TB (I play horde) and he has decent size bags and around 1k gold and just set his hearth to TB. I buy what I see spawn, hearth to mail out to another alt to store in mail, or list on the auction house, and run back.

I know this sounds boring, but I usually do it while watching TV, where you just click 1-2 times an hour and buy out what you want. There is a lot less competition now (compared to 6 months+ ago) since they reduced the spawn rates were reduced.

Don’t want to sit there all day? Just have your alt sit there and make it a habit to log on him before you log on your main each day of the fair a couple times. You can get a couple hundred gold for only 2-5 g with only a little bit of work.

With the price of herbs skyrocketing, Mageroyal can fetch up to 50s a piece. You can buy it at the fair for less than 1 s. along with many other herbs/leather/motes/scrolls.

Some tips:
Don’t buy the Outland rare gems, they cost 12g now and for most servers they are worth a lot less on the AH cut or uncut.

Scrolls still sell, to save bag space I only buy scrolls level III + and limit how many intellect and spirit ones I buy. Inscriptionists can now make them so the price has dropped a little on them and may not be worth the time for most players. However the level V goes for 1gish each and the protection ones cannot be made by Inscriptionists and sell for a decent amount of gold.

I buy herbs and turn them into glyphs. However you server may differ and the raw materials may be worth more (and actually take less time to sell)

Also visit the child running around Flik! He sells a limited supply pet called Wood Tree Frog. I pay 1g for it and sell it for 200g+. There are also other frogs to buy for 1g that sell for 10g each. I don’t list these till the faire is out of town and spam trade they are listed.

He also sells Heavy leather balls. I usually buy some and list them for 10s each (only cost a copper each) and list them singly. I list them like that since there is no listing fee. I tend to not do this anymore since there is so many other ways to make more gold and in less time, but it is an option if you don’t have a lot of gold and are low level.

A quick guide on how to make gold off Netherstorm vendors.

There are several vendors in Netherstorm that can make you quite a bit of gold. It is hard to get too, so it may help to use a alt that you don’t need (that preferably has the flight paths). These vendors sell a range of engineering items, vendor pets (Covered in a previous article), enchanting mats, motes, and herbs.

I have a level 70 alt that sits at one site or the other (you can leave out Area 52 if you want to cut down on time) and flys back and forth to buy things. This is something I do when I have time to get some extra spare change.

The route I use is starting at Area 52 (again you can skip this if you want) at Qiff, the engineering supply vendor. He sells Fel Iron Casing, Smoke flares, Handful of Fel Iron Bolts, and Adamantite Frames that can sell for double or more than the vendor price.

From there I fly up to Stormspire, where I visit Dealer Najeeb, the spare parts vendor. He sells Adamantite Frames, Motes, Elemental Blasting Powder, Handfuls of Fel Iron Bolts, and Hardened Adamantite Tubes. The next stop is Dealer Sadaqat, the Potent Potables vendor. He Sells Felweed, Icecap, Dreaming Glory, Mana Thistle, Netherbloom, and assorted mana and health pots.

After that, I visit the two enchanting vendors to buy some strange dust and lesser magic essence. Finally followed by the Pet Vendor, Dealer Rashaad. He sells several pets that you can make a profit off of since people don’t want to spend the time flying all the way up too Northrend.

This run can make a small chunk of change when it is added up, and only takes a couple minutes out of your day to check the vendors.

All the items are limited supply, so someone may have beat you to some of the items. Check again in a little while (an hour or so) and see what has respawned.

A quick way to make gold with Glowcaps in Zangarmarsh.

Remember Glowcaps in Zangarmarsh? These little mushrooms are all over the place (and probably really annoying to those herbalist who were trying to farm “real herbs”). So whats so special about them? They can be used to purchase cooking recipes off the Sporeggar Quartermaster that can be sold on the Auction House. Recipe: Sporeling Snack Takes 2 Glowcap and Recipe: Clam Bar takes 1. These sell on the Auction House for around 12-30g depending on your server and supply.

But why would people want to buy these recipes if they are so easy to get? Like many other gold making ideas, it is because either the person is too lazy to look up the item on where it came form, or to them it isn’t worth their time to go to Zangarmarsh to pick it up. Another reason is people are looking to get achievements for cooking recipes, this results in them looking around the AH to see what they are missing, hence a purchase of one of your recipes.

So why should it be worth your time? You can collect about one Glowcap per min. Each Glowcap is “worth” about 6g min each. This equals about 360g an hour.

Now you will not sell all of them right away. List 2-3 at a time and store them on a bank alt. It is much easier to grind out several of each and store them, than it is to go back to zangermarsh every time you need 1-2 recipes more.

Notice yourself spending a lot of time sitting around in Dalaran?

You can turn this time (and time sitting around in other cities) into some pocket change instead of running in circles around the city.

There are two vendors in Dalaran where you can purchase limited supply items for resale. The items include Strange Dust, Lesser Mystic Essence, and some mana pots.

This can also be applied to enchanting supplies vendors in any city.

Below is the list of the two vendors, costs, limited supply quantity and the wowecon.com value of the item.

Its only about 18-30 silver profit per item, but it adds up. It’s not that big of a profit margin but is a low cost option to make gold if you’re strapped for gold. I make more on the Strange Dust because on my server they go for 50 silver each. The one that you make a decent amount of gold on is Runic Mana Potion. However, if you use these for raiding, you may want to keep them for yourself.

The map below shows the location of the two vendors:

There is a lot of gold to be made with vanity pet selling. Now that there is an achievement for it and people don’t need to have the pet take up bag space people want every pet they can get.

The thing is like everything else, wow players are lazy. You can buy vendor pets for 50 s and price them at 5g and sell 10 + a week of each kind.

Cross faction selling is a goldmine too. If you have a second account, friend with a second account with another faction on your sever it makes it a bit easier. Or if you can post on your server forums asking for someone to contact you via email about buying something off a vendor on their side, you can get someone who is like minded and will work with you on a cross faction AH.

I usually have the person meet at a mutual ah at a set time and I list their vendor pets up for 3g each (they make 2.5g a piece) and resell them for 25g+. I usually do the same for the other person. If you sell him as many as he sells you, you will get all your money back. But it’s a safe way to know that you get something out of the deal incase he doesn’t list the ones for you to resell.

If you don’t want to work with someone cross faction, you can always list some of your pets on the mutual AH, but the listing fees are high and the AH are usually hard to get too.

One last thing is have fun with it. Make a level 1 alt and name him Petstore or something related, (if this is the only thing you want to sell on the AH) this way you don’t have people asking you on your main what you are doing or how you received the cross faction pets.

Here is a list of the Pets you can buy to resell from the vendors:
